4503.51.00, DE VILLE PRESTIGE TONNEAU, BLACK DIAL
Sold31.2mm (width)Stainless Steel
An Omega De Ville Prestige, ref. 4503.51.00, in a stainless steel tonneau case measuring 31.2mm across. The case curves into its steel bracelet, so watch and bracelet read as one continuous line. The black dial is kept simple, with slim dauphine hands doing most of the talking against the dark surface. A sapphire crystal sits on top, and inside is the automatic calibre 1120. It is compact and shaped in a way a round watch simply cannot be.
The De Ville name first appeared within the Seamaster family before becoming a collection of its own in 1967. It became Omega's home for its more elegant and more experimental designs, from slim dress pieces to unusual case shapes. The Prestige line carried that idea forward with classic proportions and dependable automatic movements. The calibre 1120 is based on the ETA 2892-A2, a slim and well regarded automatic that Omega refined for its own use. Shaped cases like this tonneau have always been a minority in the catalogue, which is a large part of their appeal now. They speak to a period when Omega was willing to let a dress watch have a personality.
We sourced it because it is a very different Omega from the Speedmasters and Seamasters everyone else is chasing. The tonneau case is the whole point. It curves at the sides, flows into the bracelet without a break, and gives the watch a silhouette you recognise from across a room. The black dial and dauphine hands keep it serious, so the shape reads as confident rather than costume. On the wrist it feels late century in the best way, a reminder of when dress watches were allowed to be shaped by design rather than convention. You will not see many of them, and that is exactly why we like it. Curated with intent.
