3510.50, SPEEDMASTER REDUCED, BLACK DIAL
Sold39mmStainless Steel
A ref. 3510.50, the Speedmaster Reduced with a black dial. It is the Moonwatch look at a smaller scale, black dial, white baton hands, three subdials and a black tachymeter bezel. The case runs to roughly 39mm, with crown guards and lugs that keep the Speedmaster proportions intact. Inside sits the calibre 3220, an automatic chronograph that winds itself on the wrist. It is the self-winding answer to the hand-wound Professional. It came to us on a steel bracelet, and the whole watch felt quick and easy on the wrist.
Omega introduced the Speedmaster Reduced in 1988, and the idea was simple: keep the Speedmaster look, shrink the case and add an automatic movement. The calibre was built on an ETA base with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module, a robust and practical combination. The 3510.50 became one of the defining versions of the Reduced, the black-dial model most people picture when they hear the name. It ran for years as a more approachable Speedmaster, smaller on the wrist and lower maintenance in daily wear. For many collectors, it was their first Omega chronograph. It has since become a modern classic in its own right.
We sourced this watch because it is the Speedmaster for real life. The reduced case sits neatly under a cuff, the automatic movement means you can pick it up and go, and the black dial gives you the Moonwatch silhouette at a glance. It is the version that gets worn every day rather than saved for weekends. It keeps the familiar three-register layout, scaled to suit the case. It is the kind of watch people buy once and keep wearing. Curated with intent.
