326.30.40.50.11.001, SPEEDMASTER RACING, RED DIAL
Sold40mmStainless Steel
A ref. 326.30.40.50.11.001, the Speedmaster Racing in 40mm steel. The dial is a full red, with black subdials and a red and black checkered minute track running around the edge like a pit lane barrier. Omega gave the dial a Clous de Paris texture, so the red shifts and sparkles as the light moves. A matte black aluminum bezel carries the tachymeter, and a domed sapphire crystal sits above it. Inside is calibre 3330, a self-winding Co-Axial chronometer chronograph with a silicon balance spring. It came on a steel bracelet, and with that much color on the dial, steel is the right call.
Before it went to the moon, the Speedmaster was born in 1957 as a sports and racing chronograph, the first to put a tachymeter on the bezel. In the late 1960s Omega produced a version with a distinctive racing minute track, and that dial became one of the most chased vintage Speedmasters. The modern Racing collection revived the idea: the checkered track, the bold colorways, the motorsport attitude. This 40mm reference paired that look with the automatic calibre 3330 and a date. It sits outside the Moonwatch canon on purpose. It is a Speedmaster that remembers the road came first.
Nobody buys a red dial Speedmaster by accident. This is a watch that goes all in: a red dial, black subdials, and that red and black minute track that turns every glance into a checkered flag. Get close and the Clous de Paris texture shows up under the color, a detail you only notice once you own it. The automatic chronograph and date make it far easier to live with than a hand-wound Moonwatch. It is a Speedmaster for people who already know the Moonwatch story and want the other one. Curated with intent.
