Sold38.5mmStainless Steel

An Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, ref. 231.10.39.21.03.002, in a 38.5mm steel case. The blue dial is sun-brushed and cut with vertical lines in the Teak Concept pattern, so it flashes from navy to bright blue as you turn your wrist. A date sits at three, framed and tidy. Behind the sapphire caseback is the Master Co-Axial calibre 8500, an Omega movement resistant to magnetic fields greater than 15,000 gauss, with a 60-hour power reserve. Water resistance is 150 meters, so it is as happy in the pool as at dinner. We had it on a light blue rubber strap, which turns a classic dress-sports watch into something genuinely summery.

Omega introduced the Aqua Terra in 2002 as part of the Seamaster family, a watch meant to move between the water and the city without changing character. Its defining feature from the start was the dial, lined vertically like the teak decks of a sailing yacht. The model grew into Omega's most versatile everyday watch, and it became a showcase for the brand's in-house movements. The calibre 8500 family brought the co-axial escapement and a twin-barrel design to the line. Later Master Co-Axial versions like this one added magnetic resistance beyond 15,000 gauss. At 38.5mm, this reference sits right in the sweet spot of the range.

We sourced this watch for the dial. The teak pattern is one of those details that reads as simple from across a room and becomes endlessly interesting up close, and on sun-brushed blue it is at its best. Then flip it over: a Master Co-Axial calibre 8500 with 15,000 gauss resistance is a serious movement to find in a watch this easy to wear. The 38.5mm case is the size many collectors wish Omega made more of. On light blue rubber it leans fully into its yachting roots, sporty and relaxed in a way the bracelet never is. It is the Aqua Terra in its most fun configuration. Curated with intent.
