168558-3002, L.U.C 1937 CLASSIC, WHITE DIAL
Sold42mmStainless Steel
A ref. 2763-1130-55, the Blancpain Léman Complete Calendar in steel. The black dial carries a full calendar laid out with restraint: day and month in twin windows beneath twelve, the date read by a slim pointer around the edge. A small seconds subdial adds a quiet rhythm at the bottom of the dial, and the 100-hour power reserve is noted right there in print, a promise made in plain sight. The Léman case is round, sporty in proportion and finished with care, more relaxed than a pure dress watch. It is a complicated watch that never feels fussy. This one wears on a black textile strap, which leans into the Léman's sporting side.
Chopard's L.U.C collection takes its initials from Louis-Ulysse Chopard, who founded the company in the Swiss Jura in 1860. In 1996 the Scheufele family, owners since 1963, established Chopard Manufacture in Fleurier to bring serious in-house movements back to the brand, and the L.U.C line became its showcase. The 1937 in this watch's name marks the year Chopard moved to Geneva. The 1937 Classic paired that heritage with a chronometer certified movement and a dial inspired by classic pocket watch design. It is the L.U.C in its purest form: time, date and nothing extra.
We sourced it because this is a dress watch with a real movement behind it, and that is harder to find than it should be. Look at the dial: that glossy white and those black Roman numerals have the look of an old enamel pocket watch, and the Dauphine hands could have come from the same era. Then turn it over, and an in-house, COSC certified L.U.C calibre is waiting behind the sapphire, finished to the standard of the Fleurier manufacture. Chopard is still underrated by most collectors, which is exactly why the L.U.C line is so rewarding. Few watches in steel deliver this much finesse so quietly. Curated with intent.
