A Chopard St. Moritz Chronograph, ref. 8352, in stainless steel at 38mm. The black dial carries Roman numerals and the chronograph registers, framed by the signature St. Moritz bezel with its eight visible screws. The case flows straight into a fully linked integrated steel bracelet, and the fit on the wrist is the first thing you notice. A display caseback shows the automatic chronograph movement inside. It also comes with an original Chopard strap and buckle, so it can be dressed down or up. The chronograph works properly and smoothly, and the watch is running well.
Karl-Friedrich Scheufele designed the St. Moritz in 1980, Chopard's first steel sports watch, named after the Swiss resort town. It arrived in the era that produced the integrated-bracelet steel watches collectors now chase, and it became one of Chopard's defining designs of the decade. In 2019 Chopard brought the idea back as the Alpine Eagle, built around the same screwed bezel and integrated bracelet. The original St. Moritz chronographs remain the harder pieces to find. This example came to us by trade, and its previous owner invested $3,000 in the bracelet alone.
We sourced it for the bracelet. Fully linked and integrated into the case, it drapes rather than hangs, and it makes the watch wear far better than its size suggests. The black dial keeps the chronograph serious, while the screwed bezel gives it the confident character that the modern Alpine Eagle borrowed. At 38mm it is a true everyday watch, at home with a suit or a t-shirt. Rare, wearable and full of character, it is exactly the kind of piece we look for. Curated with intent.
