Sold43mmStainless Steel

An Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer, ref. 220.12.43.22.03.001. The centre of the dial is a map of the world, laser-ablated into a grade 5 titanium plate so the oceans glow blue and the continents stand in relief. Around it, a 24-hour ring shifts from light blue for day to dark blue for night, and a city ring tells you the time in every major zone at a glance. Outside that, the blue dial carries the teak pattern that defines the Aqua Terra. The steel case is 43mm with a sapphire caseback, revealing the Master Chronometer calibre 8938. It is worn on a blue rubber strap.

The Aqua Terra arrived in the early 2000s as the dressier side of the Seamaster family, with its teak-striped dial inspired by the decks of sailing yachts. In 2017, Omega gave the collection one of its most ambitious complications: a true worldtimer, showing all 24 time zones at once. Omega made it a Master Chronometer, tested by METAS for accuracy and resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. The map itself is the real achievement, rendered in titanium by laser ablation so the earth has texture and depth rather than being printed flat. It is a technical complication dressed in the cleanest design in the Seamaster range. Few worldtimers at any price look this considered.

We sourced this watch for the globe in the middle. Tilt it in the light and the continents rise off the titanium plate, the oceans shift from navy to bright blue, and the map looks almost three dimensional. Then the 24-hour ring tells you, without any arithmetic, whether it is morning in Tokyo or midnight in London. Most worldtimers are a busy wall of text. This one feels like a window. The blue rubber strap makes it a watch you can actually travel with, not one you leave in a safe. Curated with intent.
