Q1358420, MASTER ULTRA THIN SMALL SECONDS
Sold40mmStainless Steel
A Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Small Seconds, ref. Q1358420, in stainless steel at 40mm. The silver sunray dial holds only what it needs: applied baton markers, slender dauphine hands and a small seconds at six. The case is thin and softly polished, with long curved lugs that let it sit low on the wrist. Through the sapphire caseback runs the in-house automatic calibre 896/1. It is worn on a Jaeger-LeCoultre strap with the original Jaeger-LeCoultre deployant buckle, and it comes with its box.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has worked from Le Sentier in the Vallée de Joux since 1833, and over that time it has developed more than a thousand calibres, many of them supplied to other great houses. The Master collection arrived in 1992 alongside the 1000 Hours Control, a testing regime that put each finished watch through weeks of checks before it left the manufacture. The Master Ultra Thin line distils that collection to its essentials: a round case, a clean dial and a movement made entirely in house. The small seconds version is its purest expression.
We sourced it for the dial. The sunray finish is fine enough that it reads as plain silver until you tilt the watch, then it opens into a soft fan of light across the whole face. The small seconds is the only motion on the dial, a slow sweep at six that gives the watch a heartbeat without breaking its calm. Turn it over and the 896/1 fills the caseback, proof that the simplicity on the front is built on serious watchmaking. It is the kind of dress watch collectors keep for decades. Curated with intent.
