Bucherer
505442, VINTAGE TANK
Sold27mm x 33mm
A vintage Bucherer with a rectangular gold-tone case measuring 27mm by 33mm, and a black dial. Slender gold markers frame the dial, and a discreet date window sits low on the face. It rests on a substantial two-tone bracelet with gold and black links that gives it real presence on the wrist. The caseback is numbered 505442 and 11114. It is a watch with the proportions and finish of its era.
Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened his watch and jewellery shop in Lucerne in 1888, and the Bucherer name has been part of Swiss watchmaking ever since. Through the twentieth century the company sold watches under its own name alongside the great Swiss houses it represented, many of them in the gold-tone and two-tone styles of the time. This is one of those pieces.
We sourced it for the bracelet. The alternating gold and black links are chunky, architectural and very much of their time, and they turn a simple rectangular watch into a statement. The black dial keeps everything grounded, with just enough gold to tie it back to the case. Vintage Bucherer is easy to overlook, which is exactly why a piece like this deserves a second look. Curated with intent.
